Article: Think of a Collar as a Bra

Think of a Collar as a Bra

At Chommies, we have a theory that a dog’s collar is a lot like a bra. Hear us out:

Both are everyday essentials, both serve a purpose and depending on the style, they say a little something about you.

You’ve got your practical ones.
Your nicer ones.
And the ones you wear because you have to.

But no matter how good it is, there’s always that blissful moment at the end of the day when it comes off. Sweet relief!

We’d like to think dogs feel the same. As much as they might love their collar (and look very good in it), wearing anything all day is still… wearing something all day.

And collars are important. They help with identification. They’re part of walks, adventures, everyday life. But they don’t need to be on all the time.

So when the day winds down, take it off. The bra and the collar. Give them a proper neck scratch and let them settle down with you.

On a slightly more serious note:

As good as collars look, and as important as their purpose is, they can become a safety risk when dogs are unsupervised or playing. Collars can get caught on objects or during rough play, which can lead to unnecessary accidents.

For peace of mind, we suggest removing your dog’s collar when you’re not with them or when they’re playing. It’s a small habit that makes a big difference.
